ERIK
Are you drunk?

ANNA
Am I drunk?

ERIK
Are you drunk?

ANNA
I’m drunk enough to talk.

ERIK
Drunk enough to talk or drunk enough to talk to me?

ANNA
Enough to talk to you.
Are you drunk?

ERIK
(downs the contents
of his glass
)
I can feel that I’ve had a few. I feel the blood coursing through my veins. Do you feel it? Coursing? Through your body?

ANNA
Do I feel like getting naked? No, I don’t feel like it.

ERIK
No. You don’t feel like it. You never feel like it.

ANNA
I do feel like it.

ERIK
Are you drunk?

ANNA
I’m drunk. Are you drunk?

ERIK
I’m drunk.

- An excerpt from "They Died With Their Boots On" by Sofia Fredén, translated by Edward Buffalo Bromberg
